Early one morning

Well the move has been completed. Logistically it was well organized and executed. So much so that when I reassembled my studio every I needed was to hand. Financially it was a bit of a catastrophe though. The new house is a lot more comfortable than the old one despite being smaller. Having carpets throughout contributes to this. Its also older and has a character - the house in Linlithgow was very new, very badly made and souless. The time to buy a house is getting rapidly closer however.

We are not online yet at the new house - there is no broadband available which is a bit of a blow so I guess I will have to go with BT and some sort of dialup option. I've been trying to get Richard to run a network cable up from the office but to no avail. *grin*

Commuting is very pleasent - I was up with Milo at 6 this morning and after a lesuirely stroll down to the station through the dawn mists to catch the 7:20 train I was here for 10 to 8. Not bad at all. Talking of dawn mists - yesterday when I got up there was a (I think wild) deer grazing in the paddock behind the house.

Work is gradually moving into a more sucessful place - doors keep opening and we are, after 3 years of limited hope but hard work, more than able to enter them. I think this year is going to be a good one.

In other exciting news Milo took his first hesitant independant steps at the weekend. Its fascinating watching children discovering the world and skills that we take for granted - it lets you see them through fresh eyes again.

Music wise I've been listening to lots of Autechre - particularly draft 7-30 (the new album) and a 15 minute mix they did for mixing it. This last is incrediable - the sheer amount of things going on at the same time makes for a bit of a dizying experience and well worth trying to track down. I also listened to Vienna by Ultravox yesterday. This was the first proper record I bought and my sister nicked it off me while we still where at home regularly so I haven't listened to it for at least 15 years. It is a supprisingly good album and a lot better than I thought it would be.
